bible reading: Psalm 51:10-12; 2 Corinthians 5:17

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
11 Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

devotion:

The joy of being found by God is like a renewal of our spirit. Psalm 51 is a cry for repentance and transformation. As you meditate on these verses, think about the times you've sought to rediscover your spiritual identity. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are reminded that in Christ, we are a new creation; the old has gone, and the new has come. This is the joyous return to one's true self that the Sermon touched upon.

Question for reflection:

Reflect on what it means to be a new creation in Christ. How does this identity shape the way you live and interact with the world?
