bible reading: Matthew 7:7-8; James 4:8

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

devotion:

The Sermon mentioned feeling 'lost in the house'—a metaphor for being spiritually lost even within familiar surroundings. Today's readings encourage us to seek and draw near to God with the assurance that He will draw near to us. As you read, consider what it means to be actively searching for your purpose and how God promises to be found by those who seek Him with all their heart.

Question for reflection:

Have you ever felt lost even in a place of worship or community? What steps can you take to seek and find your spiritual center again?
