bible reading: Luke 15:13-16

13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living.

14 About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve.

15 He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs.

16 The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.

devotion:

As we delve into the younger son's descent into despair, think about the times when your own choices have led you away from the abundance of God's house. This part of the scripture reveals the consequences of self-reliance and the emptiness it can bring. It also shows us that true fulfillment and sustenance can only be found in the Father's house. Let this serve as a reminder of the spiritual nourishment God offers to all His children.

Questions for reflection:

What are the 'pig pens' in your life where you have sought fulfillment apart from God? How can you take steps to leave these behind and return to the Father?
